About The Light of East Ensemble:
Formed in 2006, London, Ontario’s The Light of East Ensemble has an extensive body of work rooted in the many lands of the Near and Middle East.
The current Light of East Ensemble lineup spotlights the professional talents of
Mary Ashton (violin, harp),
Jedd House (contra basso),
Antonia Sidiropoulos (vocals),
Jana Starling (clarinet, accordion),
Finn Inglis (clarinet)
Dorukhan Turan (percussion, ney, kaval)
Panayiotis Giannarapis (oud, bouzouki, tzoura, baglama, ney, politiki lyra, stergiano laouto).
Show: We will tell the story of Asia Minor (Anatolia) through music. Asia Minor music is a unique blend of East and West, where the rich harmonies of Western polyphony meet the soulful modes and microtones of Eastern traditions.
